Day SIx - 27 December 2010 - Sea Day bound for Milford Sound

Weather Mostly cloudy, moderate seas 15°C

Our first sleep in!  We had to put our watches forward 1 hour as well. A bit on today, but managed to find a reasonably quiet spot to actually read!!  By chance we found seats adjacent to the Hearts and Minds Room where a wedding was about to take place for 2 of our fellow Cruise Critics.  So we stayed around to observe (and read) the setting up etc.  Quite interesting to see the effort the staff takes.  It was a small wedding party and a short service which the Captain performed.

In the afternoon we had our schedule for the NZ Customs Passport procedure.  There was a huge queue, but being in the wheelchair we were whisked to the front of the huge queue.  So we were able to go to the Cruise Critic afternoon tea in the Pacific Moon Dining Room.  The staff had put aside an area for us to sit which was great.  The tea and coffee was free flowing and the food was constantly being offered!   I am sure we were the noisiest spot in the Dining Room.  Julie and Dave missed out as they were dealing with the Customs procedures.

As was custom, we had drinks in our cabin at 5.30pm, but inside as it was rather chilly out.  Still the cabin was spacious and we had plenty of room to relax.   Tonight’s dinner destination was Pacific Moon, which has an Oriental theme, and as luck would have it, it was Asian dining in all the Anytime Dining Rooms.  The food was superb.  We had a table close to the door and it was interesting to see that Pacific Moon was the most popular dining room and any were sent away to other restaurants, or given pagers to dine later.

We gave the show in the Princess Theatre a miss and opted for the Explorers Lounge to watch ‘Tour de Force’ a tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel.  It was excellent!  The show resembled the show we went to at the MCG in Melbourne in 1999.
