Weekend InTauranga

We were in Tauranga last weekend for my godsons 21st.

Had a great weekend and Bernie did the family proud by completing the Yardie in 7 minutes with 3 attempts!

We stayed at Harbour City Motor in Wharf Street http://www.taurangaharbourcity.co.nz/ which is a short stroll to the main restaurant area on the waterfront.

They have two accessible units and each time we have stayed in Unit 1.  It is very roomy, with a Queen and a single bed which give flexibility.       We did find the beds rather low, but then our bed at home is very high as it has 'bed lifters' which means I can mobilize to standing using my walker.

The bathroom has a spa bath as well as a great roll-in shower and higher toilet.  Hand rails in the shower as well as by the toilet.   One negative would be there is cabinetary under the hand basin which makes using the basin from a wheelchair a little tricky.

One TIP - tell them to put the ramp in front of the door as the door surround is a bit tricky to get over.  One of the housekeepers spotted us having a bit of bother and quickly sourced one.   Made entering and exiting better.

Forgot to take the camera (again) hence no photos.

Like most accommodations the kitchen area is not very accessible friendly, but thats my hubbys job anyway!

Can highly recommend.  We paid $155 per night.
